Twenty or so were killed in Mexico on 24-25 October in suspected gang "executions" or shootouts with state forces, mostly in the north or the central Estado de México state, Proceso reported on 26 October. These included eight bodies found naked and tied up, showing signs of torture and some with throats slit, in Ecatepec outside the capital. Eight were reported killed in several districts in northern Mexico, including a policeman in an armed attack on a hotel in the city of Torreón. Three people described as "young" died on the way to hospital after they were shot outside a house in Cuernavaca, south of the capital, the weekly reported.
