The dismembered bodies of two photographers were found in a car left by a road in the state of Michoacan in western Mexico, El Mundo and Agence France-Presse reported on 20 August. Police found the victims were shot in the head. One of them was a photographer working with the Diario de Zamora, covering crime stories, and the other a 26-year-old who took photos for travel brochures or weddings; both were reported as missing on 17 August. Their bodies were found on a road near the municipality of Ecuandureo. Mexico's National Human Rights Commission, an autonomous public body, found that 80 journalists had been assassinated in Mexico since 2000 and 15 were missing.
